About Nickole Iula
ASSOCIATE
Nickole Iula is a dedicated attorney at Barkan Meizlish DeRose Cox, LLP, specializing in employment law and wage-and-hour litigation. A native of Independence, Ohio, Nickole graduated cum laude from THE Ohio State University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Spanish. She earned her Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School in 2019, graduating with pro bono honors after volunteering for 54 hours with the Legal Aid Society of Columbus at various clinics scattered throughout the county.
During law school, Nickole worked full time for Chipotle Mexican Grill's loss prevention team while attending class at night. She was involved with the Student Bar Association, where she advocated for her classmates' interests for two consecutive terms as the Evening Class Representative. She was also a member of Phi Alpha Delta, Women's Law Association, and served as a Student Ambassador who was responsible for representing the school at various events designed to recruit new students.
After graduation, Nickole worked as an Employee Relations Investigator for Chipotle Mexican Grill before accepting a role at the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office in the Civil Division. Both roles gave Nickole the opportunity to learn employment law from an employer's perspective, which is an asset when it comes to representing employees' claims in court.
Nickole is an active member of both the Ohio Association for Justice, the Columbus Bar Association and Women Lawyers of Franklin County. She also volunteers with the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education, where she serves on the Trial Case writing committee, working with a team of lawyers across Ohio to create fictional cases designed to teach Middle and High School students about the Legal system and the U.S. Constitution.
Outside of her legal practice, Nickole enjoys spending time with her cat, reading, volunteering, and exploring new restaurants with friends.
